As I'm currently on the outs with Les Halles down the street, my wife and I recently visited Pascal's for dinner. First things first, Pascal's takes reservations via opentable.com , which is lovely. However, our Opentable reservation wasn't much of a reservation at all and landed us a diminutive wobbly table outside along with the couple that arrived prior to us with no reservation. Taking reservations that you can't accomodate, even if online, is a pet peeve of mine. That being said, everything else was really quite lovely. The service is excellent and far exceeds Miami standards. The menu, while French, was fairly diverse. I have read in previous Yelp reviews that Pascal's has struggled in the past to find a unified identity on its menu; however, it is now undoubtedly fine-dining oriented. Numerous creative specials were available, several of which we ordered and were worthwhile. The wine list is somewhat pricey but extensive. Everything we ordered was really spot-on, delivered promptly from the kitchen, and spaced well with the other courses. The special seafood terrine appetizer was a delightful surprise, as was the pastry-wrapped Wellingtonesque beef. Both the cheese and desert were superb. Of note, we have yet to try Pascal's for lunch; however, our server informed us that they have a more bistro style menu at a lower price point, which would probably be worth a look in the future.

Mediocre. Some restaurants will ruin your evening and unfortunately Pascal on Ponce is one of them. The setting is like an old French bistro, nothing fancy. The tables are very close to each other, so you are actually having dinner with perfect strangers. The waiter attending the next table came so close to my husband's face that my husband had to move away and wait that the waiter be done. The waiter did not even notice. The voice level was pretty bad and we had to talk very loudly to hear each other. The temperature of the room was hot and my husband had a hard time feeling comfortable. I ordered a caipirinha but they did not have cachaca (a rarity in Miami, even for a French restaurant) so I went with another cocktail. The menu looked great: nothing original nor contemporary, but good traditional French dishes. They served bread, which was not good: never a good omen for a French restaurant. The service was slow. The gruyere souffle was very good, but not worth the price. The cavatelli starter was horrible. I then had an overcooked Mahi Mahi dish, and my husband an unimpressive $40 tenderloin with one french fry (literally!). We then waited 20 minutes for the cheese. Eventually, they served the cheese together with our desserts. I am not sure why they thought we would enjoy a chocolate souffle and a caramel fondant together with our Pont L'eveque cheese. The Pont l'eveque was served with dry bread. Really dry, not toasted, just dry. I asked for regular bread instead and it took a long time. I asked again, and again. We finally got bread. And then they brought bread again. Even though we already had bread by now the waiter insisted to put a second bread basket on the table which was already full with the cheese, the two desserts, and the first bread basket. He eventually took it away. By the time we finished the cheese, our desserts had melted (ice cream) and cooled down (caramel fondant, chocolate souffle). By that time, I was too upset to care. We asked for the check: $200. We will not be back.

Great food, great service. No more needs to be said! :)

My father had his birthday dinner here. The food was decent, but I wasn't dazzled. The service was surprisingly mediocre considering they had about a month's notice that they'd be hosting a large party. My mixed drink was lousy. The restaurant itself is small and the tables cramped, and it was really loud as a result.

Not a place for good service. Although reservations can be made, they may not be honored and could be left waiting for a long time.

Great find in the Miami area. Restaurant is on the small side, but it feels more intimate that way. The waitstaff is amazing and very attentive. The souffles are to die for. I've come here several times with friends just to order the souffle. Dinner selection is normal for French fare and done exceptionally well. Hats off to the chef.

Pascal's had no problem accommodating us at 10:00 pm on the first night of Miami Spice. We were more than pleased with our overall experience. Located amongst a few other swanky joints in Coral Gables, we had no problem finding street parking a block away, although I believe they offer curb-side Valet Service as well. Pascal's is a relatively small establishment, with modern decor, artwork, and a full-service bar. The music they were playing quietly was oddly reminiscent of what you might expect to hear in a dentist's office. Good or bad, none of this mattered once the food arrived. For apps I chose the Creamy Maine Lobster Bisque which I can only describe as insanely delicious. It was quite simply the best Lobster Bisque I have eaten. The small piece of Corn Flan floating in the middle was like a tiny piece of heaven that fell from the sky. Marvelous! Main course - Braised Veal Shank, which was absolute perfection, succulent, and surprisingly filling. For dessert we strayed from the Spice menu and went with the Baked Alaska, Strawberry and Vanilla Ice Cream, Grand Marnier Meringue. Good choice for us because it could be described as a sugar-lover's dream. Even being a fan of meringue, I can't believe I was able to devour the entire plate with little help from my wife, who was delighted with the ice-cream-cake-like flavor. The service was impeccable, our waters were filled constantly, and we were routinely checked-on by our server, the wait staff, and the restaurant manager throughout the evening. We even gave our compliments to the chef, who rewarded us with what .... additional dessert! Bam! Despite the pseudo-Kenny G. tunes, we had a remarkable meal and would recommend Pascal's On Ponce to anyone looking for a truly excellent dining experience.

The best restaurant in Coral Gables, possibly the best restaurant in Miami. Consistently excellent food. The food has gotten a little fancier over the years. When it originally opened the food was a little more rustic but executed in a refined manner. The food has, unfortunately, lost most of its rustic quality. Originally, it was hovering between a bistro and a brassiere, now it is a really good French Restaurant. The Matre'd/sommelier is excellent and the wine list is probably the best in Miami. They have lots of small producers from all over the world that you will never see at other restaurants here. While the dining room is small and well padded, it can get quite loud. The food is subtle, elegant and deeply flavorful.

Went for their Miami Spice menu. You have to ask for it when you get there, not sure if they do this to discourage Miami Spice, or to not offend their regular clientele, or some other reason. It didn't bother me, just found it interesting. Made my reservation through an online reservation system (not sure if I am allowed to mention the name here). Had no issues being seated. On the way out, the host said my name. These little things are nice IMO. Service: Our waiter (think his name was Robert) was excellent. I am one that doesn't like too much attention. As long as I always have water, I am generally fine. He wasn't pushy at all Food: Lobster bisque and risotto were excellent. Beef tenderloin (note, you have to pay extra for this entree) was great. Veal Shank was ok, but I could easily see other folks loving it. Chocolate dessert was blah, left half of it,but admittedly, I typically do not enjoy very fancy desserts. The other dessert option would have also been extra Ambiance: Very nice. I enjoy the small quiet restaurant over the loud, large new york style place any day. Excellent for a date, maybe not the best place for a group of 10 friends. I noted several folks were regulars as the waiters knew them by first name. Overall: Enjoyed it very much, would go again for the Miami Spice Menu. I could see myself going for a special event and paying full price, but it is quite expensive.

Excellent restaurant. One of South Florida's finest. Expensive, but it is the real deal and worth the money. Everything on the menu is well thought out and well-executed. The atmosphere is formal, with a lot of the men wearing sport jackets, so be prepared. This restaurant isn't for everyone. For example, if you think Houston's is good, then you probably wouldn't appreciate this place, so you might as well save your money. However, if you know food, you need to try Pascal's.

Just had my birthday dinner there. The food was fantastic. The swiss chard ravioli appetizer was fabulous. Also, they made the best cosmopolitan I have ever had. Can't wait to go back. Alfonso, the manager, made it extra special.

I decided to try out Miami Spice for the first time, and was surprised with how much they cut down the prices for such high quality food. It was well executed, if you have a palate you'll appreciate the level at which Pascal is cooking. Just looking at his Bio it's no wonder, he's trained under multiple 3-Michelin star chefs, specifically Roger Verge one of the fathers of modern "Nouvelle Cuisine". If you have the money and want to celebrate a special occasion or to have a "true" fine dining experience make reservations right away.

I'm shocked that I'm the first one to review this restaurant. If you consider yourself a "foodie," you owe it to yourself to drop a little extra money and visit Chef Pascal Oudin in Coral Gables. It's one of my perennial favorite restaurants (French or otherwise). The restaurant is small and the ambiance lacks a little bit, but the food has always made up for it. If you're adventurous, try the degustation menu (more typical of French eating) where you can try a variety of items. And please save room for something chocolate - truly devilish. For Miami, where 85% of the restaurants are overpriced and mediocre quality, Pascal's stands out.

After returning from a trip to Paris, with 9 great meals and one bad one, we were longing for some more really good French food, and my wife and I chose Pascal's for dinner, as our 40 plus years of dining in the Miami area taught us it is now the best choice in the area. Our dinner that night was very good and I mentioned to the head waiter that my favorite meal in Paris was duck confit (an ancient recipe from Gascony, cooking the duck slowly for up to 10 hours in a reduction of its own fat) and that it was the best duck I had ever eaten. A few weeks later I received an email that a special weeknight dinner menu would be available featuring duck confit (I don't know if it was a coincidence) and we returned to try it. The meal and the value was incredible, as the $39 special menu featured an appetizer, the main course, a dessert, and a glass of Cotes du Rhone wine. For appetizers, we had lobster bisque which was amazingly good and cheese soufflé which was incredible. The main course was duck confit and potatoes (Pomme de Terre Sarladaise), by tradition also cooked in duck fat, and it was outstanding. The included dessert was a 3 color chocolate mousse, which I do not usually order, (I always have ordered soufflé's there as they are great) but the mousse was extremely good. My son and I had the duck special, but my wife never eats duck and is always dieting, so she just ordered a filet mignon, which she said was also great. Pascal's main faults are higher prices and that it gets noisy when crowded, but this week night it was less crowded and serene and the price for 3 dinners including 3 cappuccinos and 2 bottles of water, was $164 before tip - very reasonable for an amazing meal.

Can one say beyond Great. Everything was exceptional I just cannot recommend this little jewel highly enough. The flavors of each dish were well thought out, balanced perfectly and left one wanting more. Expensive - Yes, but well worth it. Finally a restaurant that is raved about and actually lives up to it's accolades. Great Job.

It's not often I visit a place that will leave me craving for more. The venue is quaint and classy. If you can't decide on the food or wine, the French restaurant manager who seems to have memorized the menu (right down to ingredients) and wine selection, can help you decide even pair your dish with the perfect glass. He is so knowledgeable on the menu, that I was a bit annoyed with the abundance of information but who cares after a bite of my diver sea scallops topped with beef short rib, fennel, carrot vichy and fava, I was in food heaven. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but my girlfriend convinced me on ordering the traditional bittersweet chocolate soufflé with chocolate ganache. This will convert non chocolate lovers to chocoholics. It takes 20 minutes to cook so you need to decide early. You won't regret it!

Wow! This place is consistently great! Had the Veal Tenderloin (juicy, tender and all the little vegetable accompaniments made this dish really sing), Scallops and Short Ribs (what a great combo) and the special Lobster App. Then for Dessert, we had the Blackberry souffle - light and great blackberry flavor and the chocolate souffle - the chocolate one is intense, med-dark chocolate flavor but still so light and airy.

The service is abysmal. I mean even by Miami standards. It took our waiter 40 mins to take our order. And then, he was not knowledgeable about the food or wine. Nevertheless, the fantastic food makes up for the incompetence. I started with fantastic cheese souffle!!! I truly believe it was a magical gastronomic experience. The beet salad, on the other hand, total rip off!!! Don't do it. You will be disappointed with the 4 over-dressed lettuce leaves and 1/4 roasted beet and the tiniest wedge of blue cheese ever - I mean it's comical. For $13.00, Pascal should be embarassed. The lamb chops were also a hit. The venison special, not so much. It was tough and bland. The grand marnier souffle sealed the deal so that I will return.

The food at Pascal's On Ponce is absolutely delicious. Restaurants with this kind of truly properly made and sophisticated of food are few and far between in Miami in my opinion. The only reason that Pascal's On Ponce does not get 5 stars was for the poor service that I had when I went there, but let's not focus on the negatives. I would definitely go back because of the cuisine. I had the Haricot Verts salad to start- delicious dressing accompanied by a crisp crouton with some outrageous goat cheese. For my entree I had the poached salmon which was one of the best dishes I have eaten out in years. The fish was cooked exactly to my tastes (I specified slighty underdone and the chef acheieved it perfectly), this dish was balanced with precision- the soft moist fish combined with al dente papardelle, a little balasmic glaze, a bit of caramelized cauliflower with the perfect amount of crunch, topped with brussle sprout leaves. For dessert freshly made passion fruit and raspberry sorbet: creamy, flavorful and the perfect ending to the meal. I cannot wait to go back, now I only wish it weren't so expensive...

Quaint and simple decor. Almost strip mall looking. Yet Excellent food. Ranks among the best in Miami if you want food. But then Miami is more about sun, sex, and disco...and its more about having a great happening atmosphere before food. PASCAL is for people who appreciate THE FOOD. Congrats chef. Consistency, creativity, and good kind service.

Made a reservation for my wife and I for 8:30 on Saturday evening. Got there 5 minutes early and were seated at 8:30 sharp. The maître d' (from Chile) and our server (of course, from Cuba) were simply fantastic. The food was great and the pistachio souffle ... well ... out of this world.

we went during miami spice week, the restaurant was pretty empty so that was to our benefit :better service. the food was fair at best. we tried the lamb which was bland and felt like it came out from a pot of boiling water: overcooked the local fish seemed frozen and not fresh. appetizers were ok but not great honestly with the exception of the service the only thing that was good was the souffle even though the grand manier filling seemed to lack the licquor. Second visit and last im afraid.

I don't usually write reviews. If I do, it is because the restaurant needs to be praised for its excellence. This is the second time I eat at Pascal's. The food and service there once again were good. On this particular occasion, however, my friend and I chose to split all our courses, so as to taste as many specialties as possible. Unbeknownst to us, there is a little disclaimer printed on the menu that states that divided portions will be subject to an additional fee. Everything we ate was elegantly split in two, with a minor addition of food, be it duck or a piece of cheese, for which we did not ask. The extra charge for all this amounted to $15. When asked about the amount, the waiter politely explained that it was stated on the menu, which essentially means that the burden was on us to read about it. For a restaurant that claims to be one of the classiest in the city, the whole thing sounds cheap and sneaky. Since the waiter recommended that he split the dishes for us, he should have pointed out their bizarre policy. Thank goodness that I had asked about the price of their foie gras special. At $29 plus the "hidden" fee, the dish was good but I would have ordered their main menu's version. So diner beware, if you are going to share, prepare yourselves to go into the place ready to read the contract and ask questions. In closing, unless someone else is paying for dinner, in the future I will opt for other dining establishments such as Ortanique or the Palme d'Or.

Good food but not great. There was nothing memorable other than it was extremely overpriced. Limited wine selection - also overpriced. It worked out to a little over $100 per person including one bottle of overpriced wine which was shared among four of us. The food was good but not memorable. The service attentive but not extraordinary. The decor was old, bland and boring. There was zero ambiance. At half the price I would have given it four stars. I would not eat there again.

Wow! Excellent food. Everything was delicious. Had the gruyere souffle for appetizer, my husband had the duck entree, which he loved and I had the filet mignon which wad scrumptious. For dessert we had the chocolate souffle-yum. Definitely recommend.

Wow! The food here really is that good! Although the service here is sometimes less than accommodating (tried to put us at a horrible table at first) and the maitre d' is very tough (he will turn you down for a table if you don't seem "right"), the food is truly delicious and beautifully presented without being fussy. We started with the beef short rib ravioli appetizer - absolutely stunning flavors. The gruyere cheese soufflé appetizer was maybe my favorite dish, full of fluffy, cheesy goodness. Mains included the sliced duck breast - cooked to a pink medium rare, full of flavor - and the crepe wrapped filet mignon. Although the first attempt came out too cooked (way over medium rare), the second was perfect; thick and delicious, wrapped in a thin skin of a scallion crepe; beautiful to see and eat. The chocolate soufflé for desert hit the spot, and all the wines were perfectly paired (we let the waiter pick a glass with each course). While not inexpensive ($100 per person plus tip), it was a great night out. We will be back!

Although I haven't returned to Pascal's in a couple of years, I can still remember the amazing dishes I experienced. My parents took me to Pascal's for my 14th birthday and it's one dinner experience I will never forget. To begin, I had the foie gras with a fig puree and pear slices. Although I wasn't that fascinated with the texture at first, once the taste began to kick in, it was amazing. It was so flavorful and all that accompanied the dish, added more flavor to the foie gras. As a main course, I enjoyed the salmon poached in olive oil. I have to admit, I am not a huge fan of salmon, AT ALL, but once I tasted the dish, I couldn't stop. Everything was perfectly cooked and the food was so savory, I don't think anyone could ever complain. For dessert, I had the chocolate souffle and it was soooooooooooooo satisfying. It was warm and it was such a pleasant chocolate flavor that's really hard to find. It's a place anyone that's a foodie could enjoy. It is a little pricey, but it's extremely worth it if you're looking for good quality food.

i went in a lot of restaurants here in miami and a lot of them try to prepare gourmet food, real european style dishes, but they do not have the art to do it. i went with my wife at pascal, the ambience and the service was great. we ate an awesome plate of different kind of cheeses (it missed only some honeys and marmelades to combine but was good), we ate excellent potatoes gnocchi, the guyere cheese souffle' (awesome), superbs rab cakes and a succulent veal loin. the dessert was incredibly souffle' with grand marnier... i'm still dreaming the taste... what can i say more? the place is always full and the clients are high level and i really think this is the best place in coral gables and one of the best in miami for sure! thank god there are places like this!

If you like traditional French cuisine, you should enjoy Pascal on Ponce. Nice selection of different kind of cheeses. Veal chop cooked to perfection and presented in an artistic way. Wild salmon prepared delicately with mild flavors.

I am ashamed to say that today's Miami Spice lunch marked my first dining experience at Pascal's. Not only do I live and work in Coral Gables, but have been dying to try this restaurant for well over a decade. The first impression upon arrival was not the best, as there were only men on business lunches dining here, and we almost felt like we did not belong. As soon as Angelo came to our table, everything changed for the better. Angelo explained the preparation of every dish, his service was excellent and he gave us plenty of attention, ensuring our lunch was better than we anticipated, which it certainly was. We came for the Miami Spice lunch, and the menu was one of the most extensive Miami Spice menus I have ever seen. In addition to offering 3 options per course that are all delicious items from their regular menu, they also give the option of paying a few extra dollars for other appetizers and entrees; for example, for an extra $8, I had the delicious duck terrine that came with pickled veggies and onion jam. We also ordered the tomato tartine for the table. This was not on the Miami spice menu, but really knocked our socks off. The tartine came with a pesto made without nuts, French feta, and crème fraise, and was absolutely exquisite. We then ordered the trout and risotto as main dishes. The trout was perfectly cooked, light, and delicious and came on a bed of lentils. The risotto was also exquisite and was served with summer vegetables. The risotto was perfectly cooked and was the perfect consistency. The only thing I will say is that I could have done without the dessert, the caramel crème. This was made to be like a flan, it was a custard in a bowl and once spooned into, opened up what seemed to be burnt caramel like a flan. It was a really cool idea, but the dessert did not seem on par with the exquisite first and second courses, and especially with the excellent service provided by Angelo. All in all: 1. I loved Pascals. 2. It was worth the hype and 3. I will definitely be back for the regular menu. Thank you Angelo and Chef for an exquisite lunch and wonderful experience.

Elegant and intimate French bistro on Ponce de Leon. Only a 5 minute walk from my maritime law firm, I hardly ever eat here. Today was a special occasion as I had the pleasure of my daughter's Sara Rose's company. Like most teenagers she is never hungry at meal time but starving at bizarre hours. I had the Nicoise salad which was sublime. OK, there are salades nicoises galore, that's for sure. This Nicoise is a textbook salade composed of: dressed potatoes, sliced tomatoes, a bouquet of string beans, slices of hard boiled egg, nicoise olives, tuna in the center, all drizzled with vinaigrette. Yum. We followed it by the best tart tartin in Miami. We were lucky that Chef Pascal was in the house and he made sure we loved every bite. Service otherwise was more sedate and distant. Not rushing us at all. Can't wait to go back.

I came here for Miami Spice 2015, and overall my feeling was that everything was just "okay". Restaurant itself has a romantic atmosphere for dinner, but it looks a bit runout or old. Food was good but not best, just very normal and definitely not for the price we payed. Dessert was somehow sad and overall, disappointing. It can be a nice place for a normal dinner, but if you expect to eat some really fine , expensive, high quality and surprising french food, I think this is not the best option.

I have been going to Pascal's for quite a few years now with my family. The service is always great, and the food is delicious. The bartender also makes a mean French martini! It really bothers me when people leave bad reviews because of the price. I leave reviews based on the quality of the food. Yes it's a high end restaurant, but you pay for what you get. The food is 5 stars. Yes the portions are not big but it's a French restaurant. I've never been to an authentic French restaurant that had huge portions. Also, do yourself a favor and get the grand manier soufflé. You won't regret it!

This place is pretty good, man. While in Miami for a work conference, I learned of this thing called Miami Spice; it's like Restaurant Week but for 2 whole months. 2 whole months of a Restaurant Week? I can't even handle it. Pascals seemed like a good fit. I splurged a bit from the prix fixe menu; I had to have souffles. It is a french joint after all. I started with the cheese souffle, which was epic. A light and fluffy cheese souffle topped with a Parmesan sauce. Up next was duck, which was also cooked quite well and fall off the bone. The third course, was another souffle (when in Paris); this time a chocolate one. With chocolate ganache. Poured on top. Oh. Yeah. The ambiance actually fit the type of cuisine; it's a bit stuffy and white tableclothy. However, that's not always necessarily a bad thing. If I ever find myself back in Miami, and in need of a souffle or two, I'm looking at you POP.

Been here like a dozen or so times over the years and it's always been a perfect example of upscale French bistro fare. This place really shines in its consistency. Not the best ambiance (especially when the tvs are on) but WOW does this place cook. Come hungry. And do the chef a favor: come on a week night.

Pascals's was our first foray into Miami Spice 2014 and it was a great way to kickoff restaurant month. If you're going to do the Miami Spice menu and they have steak tartar special you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't add it to your meal. Very delicious steak tartar and while I prefer my quail egg raw vs over easy (how they serve it) it was still excellent. We also had excellent service for the most part. As the night went on, the restaurant became very hectic but our waiter handled it well. The only reason I didn't give five starts is because I don't think that I'd pay full menu price for the entrées and the place is just too noisy because they really pack people in. All in, I highly reccomend you check their Miami spice menu plus the steak tartar.

Finally got to try this place last month, been wanting to try forever as we are local. Noticed a lot of people from out of town commenting on site, but most locals not commenting positively. All that I remember is that it was mostly unmemorable. Extremely overpriced "French" menu items that were mediocre at best. Mesculin Salad, OK but could have gotten a decent salad anywhere at a much better price; hard as a rock over cooked Tenderloin of Beef, with charred potatoes, they took a torch to them to brown and then over did them. we also had the Duck Breast which was good and just OK. This restaurant may have been considered to be 4-5 stars but the food seems to be average at best.

One word: Overrated. Food is way overpriced for the quality, quantity and taste. It is good, but you can tell is all about the chefs ego. Unfortunately the food is not as good as the chef thinks it is and all we heard was the chef this, the chef that.... Plenty of better restaurants in the area with better cooked food and less expensive. I dont mind paying when food deserves it but this doesnt cut it. Service was ok.

I went to pascals for the first time on Friday night. I went on a double date and overall I had a lovely experience. I took advantage of the miami spice deal. I had the lobster bisque as the appetizer, which was good and fragrant. I had the lamb navarin as the entree. the lamb was excellent, I didn't even need a fork to cut it, it fell apart. it also had very little fat, which meant I got more edible meat (a complaint I usually have with lamb is that it's too fatty and I don't get enough meat to actually fill me up, not here!). My boyfriend had the swordfish and I had a few bites. Oh my gosh, it was delicious. it was like butter. I've never had fish that good, and the portion was nice and big, at least 6 oz. Finally, our dessert. we got the pistachio creme brûlée which I was really looking forward to. but sad to say, I was disappointed. the creme brûlée had barely any cream, and a lot of crust. also, it was bright (artificial looking) green, which turned me off. I've had much better creme brûlée elsewhere. it wasn't bad, but wasn't great. the service was 4/5, pretty attentive, yet the waitress and assistants kept mixing up our dishes, which called for us having to exchange our plates with one another a lot. As others have said, it is a small place, and it can get loud. but that's what makes the restaurant so great to go to I think. it's intimate and very lovely. But, I wouldn't pay ~100$ a person to go there, that's just me. so thanks to miami spice for letting us try this place!

Delicious! The ambiance and crowd are nothing to speak of but the food is amazing . You need to try the cheese soufflé appetizer and the dessert soufflé as well ( we had the chocolate and it was probably one of the best soufflés I have ever had). I had the scallops with short rib on top, which was a unique flavor and definitely worth a try. My fiancé had the lamb and loved it. You can expect around $200 for an app, 2 entrees and a dessert (we brought our wine).

I really wanted to love this place, but it fell a bit short. We went for the Miami spice menu and I ordered the gruyere souffle as my starter, which I thought was excellent. Since my husband and I are both obsessed with duck confit we both ordered that. We left wishing we tried something different as it was good but just didn't wow us the way many other restaurants have. The pistachio creme brulee was okay but really left something to be desired. Our server was phenomenal but unfortunately the food just didn't quite meet our expectations.

Despite being highly over-rated, and severely over-priced, I have been a fan of Pascal's on Ponce for many years. Chef Pascal is a talented chef, and his restaurant does many things well. However, I have since discovered that Pascal was recently investigated, and found guilty, by the U.S. Department of Labor, for the unforgivable crime of stealing his wait staff's charge tips, and funneling those funds to compensate his managers. What kind of an unscrupulous restaurant owner steals from his waiters? I can no longer patronize the restaurant of a sleazy thief, particularly one who I've also heard is an unbelievable jerk. This confirms it. Visit Frenchie's on the other side of the block.

I recently came here for miami spice with some friends and was a little disappointed. I had the hanger steak which was pretty good and my husband had the duck confit. The duck was over cooked and very dry. The server brought out the desserts but forgot to bring mine out and realized almost 15 minutes later. I don't think we will be going back

Amazing cheese soufflé. I could have eaten two. Poached salmon was beautiful. Just needed more salt otherwise I would have given five stars. Wine selection is great. Service is wonderful.

You cannot have a bad experience here. Their food exceeds any other French restaurant in the Gables. Their soufflé is amazing. The only bad things is that it's pricey if not I would come here all the time. Service is amazing.

Always good to revisit this old favorite. Their Miami Spice menu has not been totally dewatered as many other places. Lamb casserole and grilled swordfish were very good, as was the lobster bisque. Chicken pate was so-so. The desserts were truly excellent: lemon tart and pistachio crème brulee. Light but rich in flavors! Bravo to the sous chef! Service is always great!

Major disappointment. What was once an excellent restaurant is now serves grossly overpriced mediocre food. Dinner on Saturday inattentive server who paid more attention to filling wine glasses to quickly empty the bottle than keeping water glasses filled and honoring requests for olive oil and salt. Duck confit was dried-out. Then an uncomfortable hassle to have charge for uneaten dish removed from dinner check. If you want a white tablecloth fine dining experience in the Gables, I suggest that you look elsewhere

one word describes this cozy, intimate, yet extravagant restaurant - incredible. we went for Valentine's Day dinner and the service was impeccable; descriptions and drawings included. we started of with the Gruyere soufflé and the terrine country pate w/ foie gras, both delicious, honestly wanted to lick the plate after. our main courses were the Australian lamb three ways and the diver scallops w/ beef short rib. the lamb shoulder was out of this world and the scallops, although a small portion totaling 3 scallops, were actually pretty big and I enjoyed it. I had to end with the chocolate soufflé because like how could you go and not get every soufflé on the menu - I honestly could have ordered 15 of them, it was fluffy light warm and most of all - exquisite. this may be my favorite restaurant in Miami - definitely number one French restaurant. will be back again and again and again

My favorite restaurant in Miami. Not a "cool place" by any means but an oasis of good service and good food. Highlights: - The bar makes the best martini I have had in Miami - Cheese souffle: amazing! - Duck and lamb three ways entrees - Both the chocolate and grand marnier souffles are fantastic!

I am not a fan of writing bad reviews, however since I have never been so disappointed at a food experience, I must share. I am giving one star, but only because of the service. It was great. The food however ...so expensive and so bad. The only regret I have is not sending the dish back. I ordered their special for the night which was Hog fish. As I was served two little chunks of fish, even by site I knew the fish was over cooked. The taste was so so, but to pay $ 41 for a fish- I expect perfection. I am not sure why all of the positive reviews. My boyfriend's duck was mediocre at best. The appetizer was boring as well.

  • Lina T.

Reading the reviews and from my own experience, it seems like this place is a hit or miss. I got the Mediterranean bass and my husband got the crispy duck. The bass was ok, alittle over buttered and the duck was sort of dry. Disappointed since it was my first Miami spice experience and I was expecting..... I guess, something much more. I doubt we'll be back.

Let me start off this review by singing a song: " Oh souffle oh souffle, where art they, I just want to shove a thousand of you into my bellay!" This place is a treat, and being so expensive coupled with the small portions they serve, I can only come here when something spectacular happens. That event has not yet happened, but fortunately for a few weeks, they have their $39.00 French spice prixe fixe menu. I made reservations for 7:45 on a Friday and arrived about 10 minutes early. It was really empty so we were seated right away, but around 8:30 it got really packed and because it was such a small restaurant, it was pretty noisy. We got our menu and after staring with our jaws dropped because of the price, we were wondering where the French spice menu was. I asked our waiter, Alejandro,(who was excellent as was the entire wait staff) and we were informed that the French spice menu ran Mondays-Thursdays! I was about to grab my sister and run away when Alejandro said to hold on and see what he could do. After some death threats and physical intimidation of the floor manager, Alejandro returned with the French spice menu!! How nice of him! For appetizers we ordered the lobster bisque and twice baked cheese souffle (which was a $10.00 supplement). Dinner was the crispy duck moulard confit and slow braised veal and for dessert we had the bittersweet chocolate star mousse and the pistachio souffle (a $12.00 supplement) The food was soo good! The lobster bisque tasted like a group of lobster buddies decided to take a long steamy Jacuzzi bath in a creamy tomatoey broth, it had so much lobster flavor. This cheese souffle, lets just say I am not worthy. So delicate, so light, so fluffy, so cheesy, I have never had souffle before, but I am pretty sure it was a mistake to have this one first because now my heart will only be shattered in the future by other souffles. The duck had the crispiest skin, the fat underneath the skin was perfectly rendered and the meat was juicy and flavorful. My slow braised veal was succulent, melt in your mouth pieces of meat surrounded in a very tasty, but light cream sauce. The desserts were absolutely beautiful. The sky high pistachio souffle was ever so pillowy light and I was hit in the face with pistachio flavor bite after bite. The bittersweet mousse was full of chocolate and had a great contrast of textures with the crispy meringue and other beautiful garnishes that were on the plate. I wish I had taken pictures, but I would have felt awkward because of the small intimate setting. One of the best dining experiences in Miami. Everything from the food, to the decor and the service was brilliant. Pascal's was some of the most delicious food I have ever had, now I have to go sell a kidney so I can come back here again. *Best dish* -Anyone of their souffles

The double baked cheese soufflé is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Absolutely baked to perfection. Everything is prepared as expected from a fine French establishment and the service is outstanding. The only reason I give it three stars is because the prices are pretty exorbitant and I almost rather go to Palm D'or for this kind of tab.

    (3)
  • claudia l.

The food is excellent, but the 3 stars are only because it is not my cup of tea, although it's a very good tea, I must concede. It's a small place, and every time we've been I've considered whether or not to embark in the cumbersome adventure of going to the bathroom (so most times I've decided against it). The courses are good, but it's not food I'm familiar with, fond of, or a connoisseur of, or that I crave, so I feel like my money would be better spent elsewhere (I've gone repeatedly because my dad loves it here - he would rate it 5-stars, I'm sure). With that being said, I'm sure if I ever have a high-profile person to entertain, I will likely make a reservation here.

  • Alain L.

Went back to this restaurant after many years away. The food is ok, but wildly expensive for what you get. To illustrate I had the scallops and short ribs which consisted of three small scallops each topped with a small amount (how much can you fit on top of a scallop) of short ribs for $41. The options when spending $41 an entree are many and one would think that if one was prone to do so you'd be rewarded with a beautiful space, professional service and impeccable presentation. This space is plain, tables are cluttered together, the service was appropriate and the presentation is about what you expect in a $20 an entree establishment (which compared with the $41 entree sounds cheap, but it isn't).

Amazing food and service in Miami at this location. After rescheduling our reservation 5 times (and the voice on the phone was never once irritated) we arrived early. I was admittedly underdressed for the evening but do so almost intentionally when dining in an establishment like this simply to see if the location cares more about its pretense than its food. From entrance to exit my girlfriend and I were treated as well as any guest could hope to be expected. After a pleasant amuse bouche of risotto croquette (not generally a fan of an amuse bouche) we decided on aps. I had the escargot and cavatelli (which felt a bit playful when you consider cavatelli looks a great deal like maggot) which was the best escargot dish I've had in SoFlo. She had a soup of fish vegetables. The broth was poured table side (always a nice touch) and both were expertly plated with care and nuance. With entrees well on their way I asked for a lobster mousseline which was on special and looked BEAUTIFUL at the table next to us. A perfect dish down to the carrot garnish. After working our way through dinner and dessert a dish of petit fours was sent to our table compliments of the chef for no apparent reason besides good taste while the table next to us nickel and dimed the waitress about their drink prices AFTER drinking them. If you are looking for excellent modern French cuisine by all means go to Pascals. Expect to spend well over $100 per person without wine (and they have an excellent wine list) on a 3 course meal and enjoy!

Very very good Things that we ordered which were fantastic (all of the things): - soufflé (which we inhaled before the waiter brought out a second one because the chef had been dissatisfied with the first one. The second one was better, but the first one was still heaven). - lobster bisque (Was a smidgen too rich, had to stop so as to fit the other food in my belly) - scallops; great - pate; exquisite. My cousin claims her favorite dessert in the entire world was once made here: a passion fruit souffle, but it has never returned to the menu. On her death bed, she will demand it be produced though, so we're keeping our eyes peeled for it. We had to settle with the Grand Marnier and chocolate souffles which were welcome substitutions. Truthfully, the food is phenemonal and the service is exemplary. Should the service not have been stellar I would have knocked down a star for being just a little cramped and uncomfortable seating-wise, but it is truly a treat to dine here.

Pascal Oudin is a mainstay in the ever- changing Coral Gables restaurant scene. Many pundits say French Cuisine is going out of favor in Miami, but Pascal proves them wrong with a full house every night. He has classic dishes like Scallops with shredded short rib eye beef, but also surprises with tempura soft shell crab. His olive oil poached salmon is a perrenial favorite. He does wonders with haricorts verts and his souffles are the best in town. Be sure to order one at the begining of your meal. At lunchtime you can seal any deal by bringing your client to Pascal's. Vive la France! and Vive Pascals on Ponce!

  • David L.

By far this is the best French food in Miami. Atmosphere: Small, the entire restaurant is the size of a large closet in a Miami mansion, however the wait staff to table ratio is about 3:1, service is excellent. Best things to on the menu: -braised short rib ravioli -lobster bisque -scallops topped with braised short rib

My husband made reservations for my birthday to this highly recommended restaurant. Unfortunately, I was unable to taste their food. Our reservations were for 8:15PM and we arrived on time. However, after waiting for forty-five minutes, outside in the cold, because it was so crowded inside, I decided they weren't interested in our business. We walked across the street to the Chinese place and had a nice meal with great service. Pascal's host did notice when we walked back to pick up our car from the valet and offered us coffee or a glass of water....... Really? No thanks.

Dee-lish-us! Very, very expensive, but delicious. Appetizers are $20, the main course $40, and dessert was $15. I had the Swiss chard and short rib ravioli appetizer with baked Alaska for dessert. I wasn't hungry enough to drop $80 on dinner. But for $40, I was content with my 3 ravioli and then baked Alaska. Iced tea was flavored with mango or pear and was refreshing.

Went to Miami and stayed in a hotel in the Coral Gables area. Thanks to Yelp, I found Pascal's On Ponce and suggested it for lunch to friends (see Jean B's review). A lot of time has passed since I ate there and the writing of this review (been busy!), but I still remember how delicious everything was. We opted for lunch where prices are in the $15-20 range instead of $30-40 range for dinner. The restaurant is not too large but the wait staff is fairly attentive. The only downside to the meal was the time it took to receive our food (30-45 min) but in the meantime, we received complimentary samples of tomato fennel soup. I love it when restaurants give complimentary tastes - wins me over every time... Tomato basil soup is one of those things which I always try at restaurants whenever I see it and this was top notch - very rich and flavorful (5/5)! I almost broke down and ordered an entire bowl but opted to wait for my burger. I had the sirloin gourmet burger filled with braised short ribs. The burger was moist and delicious and came with a side of crispy fries (see picture). I don't think any of us spoke very much during lunch as we were busy inhaling our food. (5/5). We ordered TWO desserts (nougat glace and apple tarte tatin). Although I thought I would like the apple tart more, my favorite dessert was the nougat glace (4/5) and the apple tart was just average for me (3/5). Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for the dessert to come out so consider ordering early. Overall, a great dining experience. The only frustrating thing with the meal was the time it took for our entrees / desserts to come out, but the quality of the food definitely made up for it. If you're going to go for lunch, make sure you have plenty of time (at least an hour to two) - it's very much worth it though!

Pascals on Ponce is most definitely one of the best restaurants I've been in Miami. I'm a pesceterian, and it makes it really hard to eat french food. But Pascals has an amazing menu, amazing service and food. You must order the cheese souffle as an appetizer as well as the chocolate souffle for dessert.

Since Miami Spice month is in full swing we took advantage of the special. They had the Miami Spice Menu special, we had for appetizers the Duck Terrine and the salad. The duck terrine was chunky to be complimented with some Dijon mustard it was delightful. We had to order the lobster bisque, even thou they only serve it for dinner, we HAD to try what was this about, it was GREAT!!! the corn flan that comes with the bisque is the perfect blend with the soup... oh my!!!! super yummi! As entrees we had Primavera Rissotto and Mussels. I have just noticed that the Duck Terrine and the Mussels were not in the Miami Spice Menu online... oh well... it was quite a nice surprise! Mussels were big with lots of meat, flavor was great! and it came along with pomme frittes!! I did not care much for the rissotto, it was a bit too starchy for me... maybe too much cheese... Dessert was a-ok, not a big fan of the presentation of the chocolate souffle but the flavor was sweet with a perfect ending with a warm madeleine. It's a small cozy place, service was very good.

This restaurant used to be 4-5 stars but on my last two recent visits, the food seems to be average at best. I am no longer a fan of their soufflés as they've tasted too much like egg whites and their entrees are lack luster aside from the scallops with short rib. It's a shame because I used to love this place.

I walked by and saw that on Monday evenings the have no cork fee if you bring your own bottle of wine. So we did. WOW - fantastic ! The evening went by without a hitch, what else can you expect from Pascal Oudin a classically trained Chef who has been receiving well deserved accolades since his teens. The presentation is flawless and the food is simply perfect! We are truly fortunate to have this place in our area. Enjoy !

I went with a group of friends and we had heard great recomendations about this place. This is by far one of the best French restaurants in miami. we had so much food and everything was divine. The lobster bisque, the beef tenderloin and the chocolate soufle are to die for. The service EXCELLENT in uppercase! We were treated like celebrities, ladies always served first, never had to guess were our waiter was, he was super attentive. Im dying to go back to this place is worth every penny.

Wow! A fresh take on French cuisine. Found this place while on a business trip thanks to Yelpers (thank you). Service was amazing. Cozy, upscale vibe. The food was terrific. I loved the blue crab cake with gazpacho (!), and the scallops with short ribs were tender, delicious, different. Highly recommended!

  • Claudia R.

This has been my favorite place to eat since I was a child (hooray for getting taken along to my father's business dinners!) Throughout the years I tried a lot of different things on the ever changing menu and came to the conclusion that I like everything that comes out of that kitchen. I'm a picky eater, and I'll try anything off that menu. I love the crab cake, their escargot was magical, the gnocchi was in the most beautiful sauce I've ever tasted. Their grand marnier souffle is also wonderful. The place is expensive but anytime I've eaten there it's been an experience, and seemed well worth the price. The portions are on the small side, it's the sort of place where everyone should get their own appetizer and entree, and then share a souffle. You leave feeling full but not disgusted.

This restaurant is everything a genuine french restaurant should be. It is elegant and very etiquette. The staff and chef are very professional. If you want to go out to eat at a nice restaurant and have a great evening with amazing food, I recommend Pascal's on Ponce. I had as an appetizer the Lobster Bisque which was excellent. It was creamy and very rich in flavor. Best Lobster Bisque I have had. For the main dish I had the Beef Tenderloin. This main dish was beyond amazing. If you enjoy meat, have this and you will want to return constantly to this restaurant. And for desert I had the chocolate souffle which was inexplicably amazing.

Lunch at Pascals was wonderful. It was so hard to pick just one item. We ordered a venison pâté (it wasn't called pâté but it was like a pâté) that was delicious. My friend ordered the fresh grouper which he enjoyed and I had maybe the most delicious burger I've ever had. It was ground sirloin stuffed with short rib on a crispy light bun that really held up to the juicy burger and the other condiments like a stewed, seasoned tomato that seemed to me to be a substitute for ketchup. We had no room for dessert but the coffee was perfect. Our server was attentive, friendly and unpretentious.

The Miami Spice menu is very limited and of poor quality. You will probably end up ordering something from the regular menu, which costs at least $50 per person w/o drink. But the worst part is their service, specifically during packed weekend dinner time.

  • Leslie B.

This is a very romantic restaurant but is also appropriate for a business lunch or dinner. The chef is incredible and I have to say that he is my favorite chef in Miami. His food has a French flare. It is beautifully plated. The ambience is romantic and quiet. I love it that there are only a few tables. It is usually quiet and you can easily hear each other talking. The cheese soufflé is always a winner. The menu changes frequently. I live on Miami Beach but this place is worth crossing the causeway for. I have eaten there at least 10 times.

  • Patricia K.

Pascal's has a lower rating on Zagat than Palme D'Or (another exquisite French restaurant in Coral Gables) but is just as amazing, if not more. By far the best food in Miami, in general. Everytime I go, I order something different (but ALWAYS order the souffle for dessert) and every dish has never failed to surprise me. Must try the following: -ravioli filled with braised short ribs (aamazing apetizer) -scallops topped with strands of braised short rib (amazing apetizer-great option for entree for a small eater) -poached salmon -pistachio or chocolate souffle for dessert The service is also great . The only "negative" is that there is no bar and there is no ambiance--as in, it's not a place to go have a drink, people watch, and also have a great meal (Which is usually the case at restaurants where the food is soo delicious but just saying....) PS: Skip the Miami Spice menu! Just go for the regular menu.

The service was superb. The food was delicious! And I've been to french restaurants all over the world. Their mushroom soup was delicious, as was their fois gras pate and their mussels. Price is comparative to any french restaurant of its kind. I think it was less than $200 from 4 people (though we went for lunch and only one person had wine).

I've been wanting to go to Pascal's since I moved to the Grove 2 years ago. Last night we finally made it there with another couple. We chose the Miami Spice menu, which was not very inspiring in the first place, but made worse when our waiter told us they were out of not 1, but both entrees, and it was only 8:00! They substituted some mediocre beef rib, fatty meal, with sauce that tasted like it was out of a can. I had the fish (loup de mer) entree, which was slightly better, but it had been pre-cooked and sitting under hot lights for so long that it was dry as a bone. The tiny sauce was not enough to add much flavor. Dessert, a profiterole, was not eaten by 2 of the 4 diners. Most unpleasant was the noise level. They had shoved so many tables in the little storefront that I couldn't even hear my friend next to me without leaning way in. Median age = 60. I won't be back...

Four and Half Stars I wouldn't be surprised if Pascal's was the best French restaurant in Miami and Ft Lauderdale both. The cuisine has consistently been excellent and full flavored (remember New Orleans?) There's nothing else I can say about it. I really think that the small dining room is the only thing stopping this restaurant from being more popular. Although prices are reasonable for this quality of restaurant, by the time I include the mandatory bottle of wine, espressos, desert, tax, 20% for service etc it all adds up, so we reserve dining at Pascal's to special occasions. edit: I originally rated Pascal's a perfect 5 stars, but after rechecking the menu and the wine list (no choices under $90?) $$$$ prices make it less than perfect.

Très Magnifique! This is absolutely the best French food I've tasted since I've visited Paris! My husband and I went for dinner mid-week and the place was packed (which says a lot in my opinion). It's a small yet quaint restaurant which feels very inviting, and not at all pretentious as some other French restaurants in the area which shall remain nameless. I decided to go with the prix fixe menu which was 4 courses for $75. We were served an amuse to start of the lobster bisque soup which was definitely decadent. For the first course I had the Duck Terrine with Foie Gras. The combination of meats was wonderful and the apricot chutney that accompanied it imparted a subtle sweetness to the dish. The second course was diver sea scallops with braised short rib on top. This was one of my absolute favorite dishes. The scallop was first of all, some of the freshest I've had, and second it was so perfectly cooked, it practically melted in your mouth! For the main course I had the veal tenderloin which was some of the best I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and served with a parsnip puree that made me want to recreate a scene out of When Harry Met Sally!! Needless to say, since I am a chocoholic I just had to order the Bittersweet Chocolate Souffle. Yes, it was decadent and it was so good I forgot my manners & licked some of the chocolate sauce off the plate (at least I used my finger)!!! We were even given some complimentary desserts after which was truly a wonderful gesture. This is definitely a place I will be coming back to. A place that can use such simple ingredients yet impart such complex flavors is truly a place that stands above the rest.

My husband and I used to frequent this restaurant. A few weeks ago we experienced a very unpleasant situation. My husband ordered a side of fries with his entree and was erroneously brought to the table behind us and the table assumed it was theirs and began eating from the plate. Upon realizing the mistake they picked up the fries (which has been munched on!) From the table behind us and bought them to our table as they delivered the food all in front of our eyes! We were astonished by witnessing the whole event ! The most amazing thing was the attitude of the Maitre D he thought its was funny and could not even graciously apologize! You don't expect this from such a classy place And high prices! They did not even offer us a dessert on the house ! Totally classless And average food experience the last few times we ate there! BTW the table that lost the fries was also angry and felt disrespected! Regular customer never again!

Pascal's is my favorite restaurant I've tried in Miami. I came here a year ago last August (yah, yah this is a little overdue, but it should say something that I remember the meal so well). Pascal's is a rather small, intimate, classy dining room in Coral Gables with French food done right, in all its buttery goodness. I had the lobster bisque with tarragon and a little corn bread biscuit floating in the middle. The bisque was rich and savory, with the corn bread still light and a very nice touch. For my entree I had the braised lamb shank. I love lamb shank. If done well, and cooked over low heat for a long time, the sweet, savory meat will fall off the bone. Pascal's marinated theirs with a wine reduction, shallots, and some vegetables. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. This was the second best lamb shank I've ever had behind only Venus in Greektown Chicago. For dessert, I had mocha-flavored cake (can't remember what they called it). It was set with ice cream, caramel sauce, chocolate shavings, the whole nine yards. The cake was moist, light, and fluffy with a great chocolate and coffee flavor to it. It was a great ending to a fantastic meal. In one word, this meal was RICH. Rich and delicious.

Went with three other family members. I was very disappointed as I asked if I could have some angel pasta as the special was Salmon with angel pasta. The waiter basically said that the portion was next to the salmon and very small, and why not have the steamed veggies, (which btw was not on the menu). Nothing really for entrees for vegetarians. So I said well I have had this in other places and they usual are not made to taste good, could I have at least a buttery sauce on them. They brought the butter next to them and they were bland. Anyhow not a vegetarian friendly place as a high end place that is like this and pricey usually pleases the customer. Anyhow on a positive note, the appetizer that was had cheese was delicious and I enjoyed it very much. The desert was the best souffle I had ever tasted. My family loved the steak, veal, and the duck. So it would just be nice to see a nice entree for people that do not eat meat. I have been to other high standard places and there is usually at least one thing to pick from. The waiter also didn't seem to happy about the vegetarian request.

Delicious food but average service for a classy high-priced restaurant! My girlfriend and I tried this restaurant for Miami Spice and as French people, we have high expectations from classy and well-known french restaurant. We reserved a table for 9:30 PM and when we arrived, the hostess (who seemed to be the owner) looked surprised to see two young persons at her restaurant... We reserved a table outside, which was actually on the street, without any lights or candle (even after we asked the waitress twice). Moreover, the chair were really uncomfortable... But we still preferred being seated outside than in the crowded and very noisy room. They kept our bottle of wine INSIDE instead of bringing a bucket outside next to our table. Strange... Let's see the food! We ordered the seafood boudin and the duck terrine ($10 add.), the terrine arrived without bread and we waited 10 minutes to get some bread (after asking twice and eating the hot seafood boudin)... BUT It was really good. The salmon and the NY strip steak were delicious with amazing sauces (Bearnaise for the salmon and Poivre for the steak), even if they could add more sides. The fondant au chocolat was also really tasty. We really enjoyed the dinner. We had a pleasant dinner and the food was really good. This could have been perfect with a better service and comfort for a classy restaurant Pascals on Ponce pretends to be.

Pascal's on the Ponce met all expectations for French fine dining! With so many nice trendy restaurants to choose from in Miami, I was unsure about where to host a dinner party for a 50th birthday celebration. Pascal's is not a very large room, so it is cozy and energetic. Of course, all chairs were filled with happy to be there diners. We had a dinner party of 11, so our table had just about everything on the menu. Not one person was disappointed with any aspect ranging from appetizers, entrees, desserts, wine, and service. I had the appetizer special that was not on the menu, a seafood sausage. I had never heard of such, and we will definitely try to replicate it in the home kitchen! No need to go into itemized detail, as all of the menu items were exquisite. I think Pascal's will suit most anyone's taste, either for special occasion or as a random special treat.

The service was prompt and the wait staff (you get like, 5 ) were courteous. Food was of high quality ingredients. The portions are microscopic, but that's just how it is at these fufu places are. Food was exquisite, as expected; however, I've had better for much less. Therefore, I give Pascal's 4 stars.

It is that time of the year in Miami when Restaurants big and small give us a sampling of the good, the bad, and the ugly better known as "Miami Spice". It is also that time of the year when I say to restaurants by choosing the Miami Spice menu "Impress me with what you can do with a financial constraint". Some manage to impress. Pascals was mediocre at best in delivering on a good Miami Spice Menu. That said, I had no idea insults were also to be served as a final course at this culinary establishment. My fiancé did not order off of the Miami Spice Menu. Not only did she receive overcooked duck to match my bland overcooked mahi (a tough feat I might add if you've ever cooked mahi), she had her heart set on the passion fruit sorbet for dessert. When my "Spice" dessert arrived, so did her sorbet, except the waitress, in what was undoubtedly the grand finale reaching lows unimaginable, proceeded to tell her they did not have Passion Fruit Sorbet but instead had Mango which she had plated and placed in front for her to eat. Did I mention the waitress never came to the table ahead of this to alert her they did not have the sorbet she wanted? I can't say she did not ask her to take a look at the menu. She did, only after she had decided she was going to a) plate a sorbet she did not order and b) present it to her. It does not end there folks. My fiancé pushed the sorbet to the side and after looking at the menu decided she was not having dessert. The waitress came back to check and see if she had made a choice. Upon learning she had opted out, she again motioned to the sorbet and intimated "you mean you don't want this?". Honestly folks, while the food had a lot to be desired (there were highs like the cauliflower vichyssoise), the service had been OK until the faux pas of bringing to our table something that was not ordered with the presumption it would be accepted and eaten. It is not only pretentious, it is insulting. Needless to say, if I ever want to order fish and be offended by receiving beef instead, I will go back Pascal's. Hint: This is Not Very Likely.
